David Bruce Smith Publications specializes in creating, designing, and composing limited-edition books on a variety of subjects: authors, historic figures, artists, and leaders. Several are about the amazing life-story of real estate developer and philanthropist Charles E. Smith.
Their first children’s history book, American Hero: John Marshall, Chief Justice of the United States was written by David Bruce Smith and illustrated by Clarice Smith.
David Bruce Smith is also committed to educating children about American History through literature and historic sites. In 2014 he founded The Grateful American™ Foundation, an interactive, multi-media program designed to restore enthusiasm in American history for children and adults.
In 2015 Smith co-founded The Grateful American™ Book Prize with Dr. Bruce Cole, a former chairman of the National Endowment of the Humanities; it is the only award for excellence in non-fiction and historical fiction–about any event that has influenced the formation of America–written for 7th to 9th graders.
This fall he will inaugurate The Grateful American Book Series; it focuses on historical couples that were–in actuality–partnerships. The first work, published in October 2019, is about “Abigail & John” (Adams).
Smith is also a reviewer of books, and recommends a reading selection every Monday.
